Hi, I’m Davis Thompson.

I’ve been teaching high school English in Alabama for the past 29 years. In that time, I’ve had the privilege to have many, many conversations about poetry (and literature in general) with many, many students.

It seems a shame for all that I’ve learned in my teaching and from my students to just stay in the classroom, so I created this blog to share some of the moments that have filled me with a wild surmise about poetry, literature, and life.

Mostly, it’s just a “legacy project” where I can reflect on what I’ve learned while being a teacher (about poetry, about students, about public education, about life), but if it’s useful to other teachers as well, then—the more the merrier.
